Strategic Project Engineer

Lightower Fiber Networks is seeking an experienced Strategic Project Engineer.  This position is to be based out of Long Island, NY or New York, NY.

Job Description

The Strategic Project Engineer will oversee multiple, high profile and/or large scale service delivery projects from sales hand-off to customer turn-over.  The Strategic Project Engineer will manage the operational and tactical aspects of the delivery to ensure that the customer’s initiatives are delivered on time and within specifications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and lead customer meetings including customer kick-off and status update calls.
  • Manage the activities of internal operational and engineering groups to ensure proper planning, communications and implementation of solutions.
  • Communicate customer requirements to other cross-functional technical teams and project stake holders to achieve project results.
  • Communicate project status including dependencies to customer in order to set and meet expectations.
  • Develop a relationship with the customer and serve as primary point of contact for any discussions regarding the project status and deliverables with the customer as well as Lightower management
  • Perform critical path analysis for projects to calculate, identify and manage aspects of the deployment and mitigate risk.
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Determine appropriate revenue recognition, ensure timely and accurate invoicing, and monitor receivables for all assigned projects.  Track, analyze and report on project profitability, revenue and margins.

Job Knowledge:

Required:  

Experience and understanding of some or all of the following areas:

  • Strong understanding of OSP/ISP construction
  • Strong understanding of carrier installation, test and turn-up procedures
  • Strong understanding of SONET/TDM technologies
  • Strong understanding of Ethernet technologies
  • Thorough understanding of project management fundamentals including requirement definition, resource scheduling, risk mitigation and change management.
  • Must demonstrate experience in managing multiple vendors, resources, to deliver time-sensitive projects.
  • Must demonstrate experience in customer relationship management and possess the ability to adapt project management approach to satisfy customer’s needs.

Job Experience:

Required:
  •  6+ years of experience in a position with telecommunications carrier network engineering, operations and construction roles.

Education:

Required:

  • Bachelor Degree or 8+ years of equivalent work experience
