Q. What was announced today?

A. Lightower announced that the merger between Lightower Fiber Networks and Sidera Networks has been completed. The deal was led by Berkshire Partners, a Boston-based investment firm with deep experience investing in communications companies. Pamlico Capital, a significant Lightower investor, and ABRY Partners, a significant Sidera investor, remain as investors in the new company.


Q. Under what name will the company operate?

A. The company will operate under the Lightower Fiber Networks name.


Q. Will my billing change?

A. Not at this time. Any potential future changes to your billing will be communicated to you prior to changes taking place.


Q. Will there be changes to my services?

A. No.  There will be no impact to your existing services. You will continue to receive the same great services and support to which you are accustomed.

Customers will now have access to additional network services, additional network routes, and additional service locations.


Q. Why is this merger good for customers? 

A. More Network. More Services.  World Class Support. Customers now have access to a wider and more dense all-fiber network throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Chicago metro areas.  The Lightower Network now totals over 20,000 fiber route miles, providing access to over 7,500 service locations. On our new network map and new building list, you will notice new markets, new network routes, and new service locations throughout our updated footprint.

In addition to a more expansive network, customers now have access to new services and solutions.

Bringing together two companies with customer-first cultures only increases the levels of support you can expect from us.  From service monitoring, to emergency response, to project management – our goal is to continue to build on the exceptional customer service that you expect.

Q. Who will lead the new company?

A. Rob Shanahan, Lightower’s President and CEO, will continue to lead the company moving forward.  A full list of the management team can be found here.


Q. I currently utilize Sidera’s customer portal, should I still use that?

A. Yes.  Former Sidera customers can still utilize the Sidera customer portal.
